(Santa Ana, California) – Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) was chosen by Stack’s Bowers Galleries to encapsulate a run of more than 200 Privy Mark 230th Anniversary Flowing Hair High Relief Gold Coins. These stunning gold coins showcase a special “230” privy mark on the obverse, which features a famous Flowing Hair design that first appeared on the U.S. silver dollar in 1794. The coins contain one ounce of .9999-fine gold and were struck by the United States Mint, which chose Stack’s Bowers Galleries as the exclusive third-party auctioneer of all 230 gold coins.
“We are excited to partner with Stack’s Bowers Galleries to bring collectors encapsulated specimens of the Privy Mark 230th Anniversary Flowing Hair High Relief Gold Coins,” said PCGS President Stephanie Sabin. “There’s been much anticipation about the release of the Privy Mark 230th Anniversary Flowing Hair High Relief Gold Coins. This exclusive distribution by Stack’s Bowers Galleries gives collectors a special opportunity to own this must-have collectible with the backing of a trusted PCGS grade and with the protection of a secure PCGS holder.”
“Stack’s Bowers Galleries is honored to have been selected by the United States Mint to bring these beautiful pieces to market. The Flowing Hair High Relief design struck in gold is a true work of art,” commented Brian Kendrella, president of the firm. “We also sincerely appreciate the expert assistance given by the PCGS team in preparing a special holder to present and protect these rarities for decades to come.”
In addition to each coin being encapsulated by PCGS, the 24-karat gold coins will be accompanied by a special United States Mint certificate of authenticity hand signed by Mint Director Ventris C. Gibson. Stack’s Bowers Galleries will also waive the buyer’s premium on these gold coins. Therefore, the highest bid on each lot will be the final amount paid by the winning bidder, less shipping fees. Live bidding is happening on the Stack’s Bowers Galleries website (www.stacksbowers.com) through December 12. |
